Start with the part drawing
Send a dimensioned drawing if available, with units, material, thickness, quantity, and the required finished shape. A PDF, sketch, sample photo, or CAD file can each help explain the request; note which document should be treated as the current revision.
If no drawing is ready, list the important dimensions and describe how the part will be used. The team can tell you what additional information is needed to assess the job.
Make cutting and forming details explicit
For a cut part, mark profiles, holes, slots, notches, edge conditions, and any dimensions that must be held closely. For a formed part, show bend lines, angles or radii if known, orientation, and the final shape. Identify critical tolerances instead of applying a tight tolerance to every measurement by default.
These details help clarify what the finished piece must do. Final tolerances, material suitability, and manufacturability should be confirmed with the fabrication team against the actual drawing and equipment available.
Include quantity, finish, and delivery
State the number of pieces, whether the work is a one-off or repeat order, the required surface finish or coating if specified, packaging or grouping needs, and where the parts are needed. If there is a target date, include it as a planning requirement rather than assuming a lead time.
Also clarify whether the request is for cutting or forming only, or part of a larger fabrication project. The final scope and schedule are agreed after the details are reviewed.
A ready-to-send part brief
Part name and use; drawing or sketch with units; material and thickness if known; quantity; cut features; bends and finished shape; critical dimensions or tolerances; finish; delivery location; and requested timing.
If a material grade or process is unknown, say so. Do not guess: Al Sham Metal can review the information provided and discuss what needs confirmation for the requested work.
