Identify the equipment’s purpose
Explain what the tank or silo will store, the intended process or use, and whether the contents have special handling, temperature, or compatibility requirements. If the equipment is pressurized, heated, insulated, or connected to process equipment, state that clearly rather than treating it as a standard storage vessel.
Do not infer a design from capacity alone. The responsible project professionals must establish the applicable design basis and requirements for the contents and site.
Share dimensions, capacity, and arrangement
Provide the target capacity if known, the preferred orientation, approximate diameter and height or length, and the available installation footprint. For a silo, note how material will enter and discharge; for a tank, identify the main connections and access needs if they are known.
A sketch with key dimensions and orientation can be useful even when the detailed drawings are not ready. Mark estimated values so they are not mistaken for approved dimensions.
Describe the site and operating conditions
Share the location, indoor or outdoor setting, exposure, available access for delivery and lifting, support or foundation information, and nearby structures or equipment. Note operating loads or conditions that have already been specified by the project engineer.
Tank and silo loads, supports, anchorage, material behavior, and applicable rules can vary significantly. Engineering criteria and local approvals need to be confirmed for the actual project.
Clarify drawings and requested work
Attach drawings, specifications, reference photos, and any required inspection or finish documents. State whether you are requesting fabrication only or also need delivery or installation to be considered.
Al Sham Metal fabricates tanks and silos according to project requirements. Available dimensions, drawings, intended use, location, and requested scope are reviewed before quotation details are confirmed.
Tank and silo enquiry checklist
Equipment type; stored material and intended use; target capacity and dimensions; operating conditions; connections and access; installation location; support or foundation information available; drawings or specifications; requested fabrication, delivery, or installation scope; and open questions.
If the design is not finalized, send the current information and identify what still needs an engineer’s decision.
